Ippudo

In today’s NY Times, food critic Frank Bruni delivers a not so scathing one star review of my favorite ramen mecca Ippudo.

I used to take Bruni seriously when he took over for Amanda Hesser at the Times.  But now, I count the days till his retirement this summer.  How can you possibly review Ippudo and barely mention the pork hirata buns?  How can you review Ippudo and not mention the sheer volume of ethnic Japanese people that dine there?  Surely, they know naught about their countries’ signature ramen dish…

I don’t get you Bruni.  I just don’t get you.

On the other hand, Bruni may be doing the likes of me a favor.  In fact, you’re right Franky boy - Ippudo is a one star hole in the wall.  It stinks.  I hope your upper east side readership subscribes and believes in your unmeritorious review and stays the hell out of Ippudo.  It’s crowded enough as is.
