When I break, I’m gonna BREAK

6:07PM into day four of the master cleanse.  Like I wrote earlier, the actual hunger cravings have gone away.  I’m no longer jonesing for a chocolate M&M nor a slice of pizza.  Let me clarify, I’m ALWAYS JONESING for a slice of pizza or a nice sweet but if I was dying for one on Tuesday, today I can pass it by.  It’s a want.  Not a need.

I’ve been thinking about how I’m gonna break this cleanse of mine.  Besides drinking OJ for the first day off followed by a day of soup, what am I gonna break with?

That got me thinking.  Last weekend was the Big Apple BBQ fest here in the city.  I went on Saturday around 1pm and it was a colossal clusterfuck.  Lines were enormous.  There was barely any room to walk thru Madison Park.  It was loud.  And all I could garner was a beautiful pulled pork sandwich from the Dinosaur BBQ stand (thanks to M Ray!!!!).

So I’m gonna satiate my bbq pulled pork craving with slow cooking a Boston ham butt.

First I’m gonna brine the ham in a mix of water, pickling salt and molasses.

Then I’m gonna cover it in a rub (yet to be determined tho I’m thinking of using Goode’s Rib Rub), slow cook it in my dutch oven till it’s 175F and eat it over a toasted potato bun with homemade jalapeno pickles, topped with a little homemade coleslaw (we’re going North Carolina style).

Sound good?  F yeah it does.  Feast coming soon.
